This building served as Fire Station 24 from 1927 until 1989. It seems the perfect place to create a memorial to honor Oakland's fallen firefighters and to preserve examples of firefighting equipment. The 1250 square foot garage space could serve as a museum of firefighting equipment while the adjacent vacant parcel to the north could be the site of an expansive memorial structure with places for dedication plaques naming fallen Oakland firefighters similar to the national firefighters memorial in Washington.
